The study plot has an area of 4 acres and is located in Kalessa of Heraklion. The architectural composition was based on the particular characteristics of the plot, the orientation and the local climate, but also on the functional needs of the family. Based on these data, a two-storey house was designed with a basement and a swimming pool, with an area of 200 sq.m. The simple volumes of the rational pattern, are synthesized with each other and create a single whole, adding aesthetic alternations with their sizes and shape. The rigidity of the central core of the house balances with the semi-covered spaces, which complement the shaping of the volumes.
The location of the building on the plot was based on both the shape and the orientation of the acreage. The comprehensive study resulted in the maximum utilisation of the natural light and the view, but also the protection of the house from the fierce winds of the area. The building is developed along the east-west axis, to ensure unobstructed views from every point. Simultaneously he proposes his back to the community road. The entrance of the household is located on the north side and centrally of the primary volume of the house. To the right of the entrance are the dining room and the living areas with the fireplace. A distinctive feature is the grand openings which ensure unrestricted views and natural light. To the left of the main entrance, we find the guest house and the kitchen, developed towards the surrounding area allowing its connection with the inside and the outside. Upstairs are the children and couple's bedrooms, designed having the privacy of the family members in mind.
A dominant feature of the house is the configuration of the surrounding area with the barbeque and the pool, developed as a cantilever parallel to the dwelling on the north side of the plot.
