The land lot is approximately 6000 sq.m and located in Agioi Deka in Heraklion. The architectural synthesis was based on the special features of the site, i.e the view, orientation and local climate, as well as the functionality of the family household and the planning restrictions. A ground-floor residence of approximately 160 sq.m with basement was designed. The synthesis of the volumes was based on the contemporary criteria, without imitating but rather taking into account the scale and proportions of local architecture. The building is orientated in a way that it ensures unobstructed view from every spot. The strictness of the volume line following the West-East axis balances the diagonal southeast volume with the roof, which constitutes the core of the residence. Apart from their functional role, outdoor spaces complete the synthesis of the volume.
The entrance is on the east of the land lot through the stairs, on the right of which and above the ramp towards the basement lies a bridge that allows the communication between the south and north part of the outdoor space. The diagonal southeast volume of the house defines the living spaces of the house. On the left of the main entrance, the living room is articulated with the aim of proper lighting and unobstructed view. One of its special features is the fireplace, the design of which makes it a dominant characteristic of the space. The kitchen and dining space are developed on the right of the main entrance and in line with the living room. The private personal spaces are articulated following the East-West axis, thus ensuring essential privacy. The master bedroom is developed on the east of the kitchen.
