The proposal for the restoration of the stone house in the district of Rethymnon derives its central idea from the peculiarity of the present building and the surrounding area. The existence of olive groves and other crops in the vaster area is characteristic. The plot covers a space of 570 sq.m. and the house located there was the size of 140 sq.m.
The single stone volume of the residence is located centrally and is reinforced by reinforced concrete. The level of the structure is 3 meters higher than that of the street. The orientation of the building is north-east.
The entry can be found at the south-east of the plot and develops a path to the entrance of the house. On either side of the marked path there are three levels of stone flower beds. The access of the vehicles and the parking lots differs from the main passage and is located southwest of the plot.
The private house is developed on two levels of 96 sq.m. and 46sq.m. each. On the first floor there are an open-plan living/kitchen area, a bathroom and a bedroom, while on the second floor there is the master bedroom with an in-suite bathroom.
Externally, a semi-outdoor dining area is formed south of the main volume. The broad openings added to the building aim to unify the interior with the exteriors and result in a single functional structure. Finally, the use of planters and trees (existing and new) aims to create a pleasant microclimate with natural cooling and shading.
