The residence in Kollyvas of the Municipality of Malevizi is established on a plot with a total area of 2020.07 sq.m. The main goal was to design a modern house with traditional elements. To achieve this, we included the building volume in the natural relief. Based on the needs of the owner and considering the morphology of the soil we were headed to the creation of a functional spacious house with a total area of 145 sq.m.
During the study of the space our team took into account the views, the shading and the scale. The main entrance is located east of the building and the visitor goes up two elevated levels to reach the primary house, combined with outdoor seating. The parking lots are placed to the east and the north of the plot.
The private house consists of three bedrooms, living room, office space, kitchen, and dining area. A sound element of the composition is the fireplace in the family gathering place, with a reference to the household hearth. The modern design offers a direct approach to the essential functions without the use of stairs, as well as the two-way relationship of the interior with the outdoor. In addition, we included the required provisions for two storages, a mechanical room, and a boiler in the basement of the building.
The local stone and the conventional masonry obtain the structural elements that seamlessly integrate the building in the landscape of the area. These materials were reclaimed to express modern architecture through tradition.
