The harmonization with the landscape, the construction with the use of the local land, the minimal intervention in the place characterize our new project. The Elysium Collection villas, a project that combines luxury and at the same time direct contact with nature. The complex is located in Agia Pelagia, Heraklion, Crete and consists of 5 cave villas, each with a private pool.
A horizontal slit, a gap in the natural relief orients the complex towards the view, maintaining the organic form of the landscape by restoring the existing topography. An artificial cave is sculpted, a space below the level of the natural ground, with close communication with the earth but also protection from it.
The two side houses are served by two private paths that are formed in the uncovered space and embrace the plot, while the other three are served with separate external stairs and elevators, thus achieving maximum privacy in access. This way the sea view is unobstructed for all the houses. Despite the uniform shape of the facade, each house is separated and isolated from the vertical elements that delimit the individual courtyards.
The retreat of 2 meters that takes place at the back makes the villas through, thus allowing their natural light and ventilation on both levels. At the same time, a quiet corner is created in the bedroom area, ideal for moments of calm and seclusion.
The materials and furniture that have been used outdoors, come in absolute dialogue with the landscape of the area. Stone, wood, earthy colors, plants and smells that thrive in the area, compose a harmonious landscape that fully follows that of Crete. Extension of the exterior, the interior, continues in the same style but gives a special sense of luxury while at the same time follows the materiality that has been used outdoors. The complex has infrastructure that highlights it all year round, with views of the sea and swimming pools making it ideal for summer, while the interior decoration gives a special atmosphere for winter stay. The private courtyards on the east side are developed on two levels, creating a dining and food preparation area and a more personal living area by the pool. Finally, on the northeast side of the plot, a belvedere is created, a viewing point with a seating area where one can enjoy the unobstructed view to all levels.
